HINDU BLUNDERS IN KASHMIR- SPINELESS-YEAR 1818
Hindus have been spineless for centuries & will remain so ever after. Afghans, Mughals, Turks and the British have found hindus most soft and gutless people. No doubt, they ruled our land for almost 800 years.Hindus have been meek spectators during those times and still are meek spectators till today.Bomb blasts, being conducted so frequently in all parts of india. No reaction except for bandhs carried out all over india. Again disturbing public life, loss of crores in business,and that too, to their own people. The extremists want such kind of bandhs to happen more frequently. They have a win-win situation. First kill people, create chaos and spread fear. They know very well, that hindus can only resort to bandhs, which bleeds the economy more than their bomb blasts.
I am thankful to mr Vinod Khurana and Mrs Poonam Kundra from Austria to enlighten me about such hard facts on kashmir, which most of us are not aware of. But they are in history. While searching the net, my doubt, became clear, about the incident they told me. Dr Biplab Pal, editor of Fossac TV,is an eminent scholar and optical fibre engineer in USA. His article was an eye opener. In the year 1818,Maharaja Ranjit Singh conquered Kashmir & drove out the Muslim rulers. During this time,a lot of Muslim tribal leaders in Kashmir who were frustrated by cruelty of alien muslim rulers wanted to be folded back in Hinduism. But petty minded pandits refused to assimilate them into Hinduism. And thus pandits committed largest blunder in Hindu history of Kashmir. As a result, chance of revivalism of hinduism in kashmir was lost for ever. It resulted in more hatred by muslims against hindus which continues till today.
Had this blunder by kashmiri pandits not taken place, Kashmir would have been a hindu dominated state.
Stop bandhs. Do something purposeful.

You are absolutely right.
At that time the King who wanted to make a revolutionary change; had invited a conference of the leading Hindu scholars from all over India .They were from as far as Varanasi and South India.
These scholars were given a few days to deliberate upon and find a solution on the issue. Even after a lot arguments and deliberations the so called experts could not come to any agreement, as to how to solve the issue of conversion of the Muslims back to their original faith, there and then.
Finally, all the Scholars showed their inability to have any solution to the problem. They told the king that even if he killed them, they won't be able to tell him any feasible solution for the same, as there was nothing given in our scriptures on the subject.
Then the king gave a ruling on his own, whereby he had declared that the next day morning the first person that meets his eye, He would accept the faith to which that person belonged to. Next day, on waking up he opened the window of his room and down below on the bank of the river he saw a person with leather bag carrying water to wash the streets.
The man was summoned to the Court immediately. On enquiry it was found that he was a Muslim and so as per the earlier decree the king declared the faith of Islam as the official religion of the state. And thus began another round of the severe persecution of the Hindus.
I consider this as one of the darkest chapters in the History of Kashmir.

Dear Sir, Thanks for sharing this info..There is truth in it but being a Kashmiri Pandit, let me add lil more...Most of the people living in Kashmir from day one were HIndus and there was a forceful conversion to Islam. When they wanted to get converted back to Hinduism, our ancestors didn't accept them back and for sure this was a major blunder. This is the reason why many Muslims and Pandits share the same surname in Kashmir..The name KASHMIR is originated from the name of great hindu kashmiri saint - KASHYAP...It is land of saints and every one knows this fact - Kashmiri Hindus and muslims ...
