WE THE FEARFUL, CAN NEVER HAVE GOOD LEADERS

Abraham Lincoln – For his remarkable role in transformation of American mindset and society.

Obama- sold hope and change. Yet to prove himself.

I do not find someone else who has been as effective however good they may have been. So, I will just offer my take on some of the great personalities who have been hailed as leaders.

Napolaon – Partially yes. But he did not have most of the good qualities of a good leader like good behavior, emotional maturity. Probably his Prime Minister Talleyrand was a much better Leader but due to a combination of factors that included his own handicapped status, he could not overtake Napoleon.

Hitler – Not by any stretch of Imagination. He was a possessed individual who can never be classified as a leader.

Lenin – Not even when I stretch my imagination beyond the breaking point. Lenin was a puppet of the Capitalist US to overthrow Tsar rule in USSR. He was financed by Wall Street. He did not have any credentials to be a good leader.

Stalin – Again only partially yes (And by partial I mean only a very small %age).

Most Important behavior-patterns/characteristics of the leader.

A Good Sense of Humor, level headedness, single minded zeal with vision. Yes, in my opinion, these are the first and the foremost qualities. Everything else will fail to materialize if a leader does not have these qualities. No matter how good an orator he is, No Matter how much proud he is of his country, and No matter how much educated he is.

The kind of transformation that a leader can drive.

A leader is as good as his followers. All said and done, still someone needs to channelize the efforts of masses. So, if a leader gets able support of his people he Can derive unrealistic transformations. But all other factors need to fall in place.

Does anyone among the current crop of Indians (somewhat well-known) have the potential to be a great leader (off course no one has the demonstrated but has someone got the inherent potential or has someone shown flashes of brilliance).

APJ Abdul Kalam Azad – Yes, he has what it takes to be a good leader, but then after his retirement from Presidential Bhawan, got lost because no one supported him. Just cutting ribbons here and there.

Tatas, Birla – No way.

Ambanis – Are you crazy. They will sell the nation in stock market.

Narayanmurty – I will prefer not to comment.

Nilekeni – Yes, he has the qualities, but then needs to prove himself at a bigger stage.

Narendra Modi- Yes, the best bet so far..

The Most Important factor that prevents the emergence of good leaders other than the outlined ones like genetics, etc.

Fear Factor:

It is this factor that we need to change. We need to change our thinking patterns. We need to be honest and fearless in voicing opinions as well as arguments. Unless, we can change these aspects, we would not get good leaders. Because, the good leaders won’t emerge unless there is support for their ideology. And in current India, I do not see there will be any support for it.

We Indians basically by nature are a scared lot, may be genitically. Perhaps, thousands of years of slavery by Sultans, Mongolians, Mughals and Britishers had impacted our fore-fathers a lot.

Natives of India were trained to obey orders from the rulers from time to time. That in-depth fear factor has seeped in and gone down to many generations, event the present ones. We love to discuss and criticize our politicians, bureaucrats and the rulers, the people who govern us in the confines of our drawing rooms. But when it comes to real brasstacks, by supporting a cause openly which is in the interest of the people, our nation, we shirk to participate and don’t endorse the cause due to fear factor, backlash and various other reasons. If this is the case, how can we expect to get good leaders ? After all good leaders have to come from the society, which never endorses a good cause.

It results in Mafia, goondas, corrupt and people who want to make politics as a profession to enter politics and they become our representatives in Assembly and the Parliament. These people are familiar with our phyche and they rule over us, breaking all the rules and making a mockery of a so called democracy in India. We create the vaccume and they fill to govern us.

If we want good leaders, we will have to come out openly to support a worthy cause which is in the interest of our nation. We must stand up firmly and listen to our heart to support a cause which demands numbers. Otherwise we are destined to live as we live today. But for God’s sake, stop criticizing the current lot of public servants as they are the people who are ruling over us, whom we never try to question openly.

Those of us who have intellect, courage, and, above all, unimpeachable integrity, must come forward and grab leadership from the hands of the corrupt and the criminals. I, for one, am absolutely convinced that being straightforward and honest is taking the easiest course; I really pity the liars and other sundry crooks. They live a complicated and miserable life. And where ever they go, they carry their personal hell with them.

Dear Vaneet,

I fully agree with you. If you have visited LK Advaniji's web site and seen my comments on various issues and my demand for a ticket to contest from Bangalore North, you will notice that there has been no response to show that they have any considerations for ex-Servicemen and the tribals who I represent. Only winnabilitiy based on money and muscle power and dynastic connections are the considerations even in BJP, which I thought was a little different compared to other parties. Tomorrow the ex-Servicemen at Bangalore have arranged a silent morcha to return our medais protesting against the injustice done to us by the VI pay commission, as is being done since over six months without disturbing traffic or creating any kind of nuisance to public(all over the country in keeping with disciplined values of the Defence Services). The net outcome, so far, has been least publicity given by the media, with reasons to to think they have been gagged as well, no satisfactory action from the ungrateful Govt, and, may I say with a lot of pain, complacent attitude of the the citizens of the country to support the cause with decisive and forceful effort, when all of them want the the soldiers to be ever ready to sacrifice their lives for protecting them. After returning the medals in a peaceful manner, as decided by the senior ex-Servicemen, I am thinking of resorting to other normal/civil ways of protests causing chaos and resulting in my arrest and obvious reporting by the media relegating me to a status of a terrorist, perhaps, so that the voices of the disciplined soldiers are at least heard loud and clear. Of course I would ensure no loss of lives or to property. There may be loud cries from hypocretes, there after, against my actions for indisciplined conduct! But why should that kind of discipline be thrust on us even after our retirement? Is at least 50% percent of discipline and moral behaviour forcefully thrust upon a soldier, through out his service, being practiced and followed by the rest of the country? And yet, all the goodies that are easily available to the general public by approprite protests and manipulation tactics, are denied to the soldier. Is this justice in a democracy? How long can the soldier continue to suffer when he is liable to be an equal participent in paying huge amounts of direct and indirect taxes to the revenue generation of the state? Dear Kanan,

This article has been written as reply to your email, requesting me to ask my email contacts to endorse the petition, which is for a very good cause and in the National interest.

I am sorry to say that we are more or less country of boneless people, who are too scared and fearful to support any cause openly.

It is time we all people, who think on your lines of doing something for the nation should plan our very own LONG MARCH. I must confess, that we ought to learn a lot from Pakistan. We are much behind them in asking for our rights. We are expected to pay all kinds of taxes to fill the govt's coffers to be swindled away by corrupt politicians who create scams fearlessly, every day, and deposit them in tax havens.

Please enlighten people and mass awakening should begin to cultimate ultimately for a LONG MARCH. We have had enough.

Dear CDr Khilari,
I can understand your anguish. BJP is no less corrupt than any other political party. This i told you, long time back. All the political parties have no character or values. They are here to grab power.Even Third front is nothing bot goons getting together to grab power. No ideology, no priciples, no ethics but POWER is the ony binding force. Power for what ? To rule over us and grab the taxpayers money, by hook or by crook. Start awakening the people for our very own LONG MARCH. That is the weapon we have. No doubt, time consuming and a long process but it has to begin now.

Vaneet ji I got the impression from your many write ups your support for the system is unipolar. But this write up clearly shows you are for clean and transparent system. I fully agree with Jaswal Sahib that the liears and crooks live a complicated and miserable life. In my comments to one of your postingsI worngly wrote: snap and cap. It should snap with goggles. Kindly read it so. I made the mistake, perhaps, cap rhymed with snap. Your suggestion for a front of BJP and Congress is good for the country. But who cares for the country? Personal goals are more important. Country and country people are second to personal goals. Thanks once again to you and Kananji for his petition to PM. Prof Keshap

Dear Prof. Keshap,
You must have read in the newspaper today about what LK Advani said about swiss banks. The awakening has started, may be it is an election gimmick but now leaders have realised that the core issues cant be ignored. People cant be befooled anymore. Some day it will become a necessity for both BJP and Congress to form a grand alliance.

we are really fearful people and thus cant have good leaders. Leaders cant be imported. They have to come from the society we live in. We must have our very own long march.
